Social and Environmental Commitment
We’ve skillfully merged centuries of tradition with once-forgotten art forms, adding a modern twist from the 21st century to create a charming collection of handcrafted pieces. These not only benefit you but also support our artisans and their craftsmanship.

The harmful effects of plastic on the communities we nurture and the artisans who make this journey possible are undeniable. Even the smallest positive changes can have a large impact, and we’re committed to doing our part. That’s why we’re gradually removing plastic and non-biodegradable materials from all our handcrafted products. You can enjoy our furniture knowing it’s good for both you and the environment.
You might find it ironic for a furniture company, reliant on trees, to speak about environmental responsibility. However, all the wood used in our pieces is sourced from certified, commercially planted, and regulated forests, ensuring compliance with responsible forestry laws. Our artisans have engaged in community forestry for over two centuries, and we actively involve them in every step of the production process. Rest assured, when your furniture arrives, it comes with the knowledge that the environment remains safeguarded.

We encourage you to appreciate the natural variations in the wood, such as shifts in grain, knots, color, and unique imperfections, which give each piece its own identity. These are not flaws but rather the soul of a handcrafted product—your furniture isn’t a mass-produced, lifeless object. It’s a vibrant creation with a story to tell, and it’s now part of yours.

Caring for your furniture is simple. Regular light dusting and occasional gentle waxing of unpainted surfaces will help protect and preserve the wood’s beauty.

For products that incorporate fabric, we ensure they meet fire safety regulations, so you can trust your home is well-protected.

Every item you purchase supports an artisan, their family, and their livelihood. We, along with our artisans, deeply appreciate your support in helping these traditional crafts thrive again within their communities.

If, for any reason, you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact the reseller from whom you bought it within two working days so we can resolve any issues promptly. We work hard to design and create each piece, and we want you to be happy with your new furniture.

We hope your furniture brings you joy for many years and becomes a cherished part of your home.

Commitment to Plastic-Free Packaging
As a company based in the heart of London, we witness the impact of plastic use every day. While we can’t solve the world’s plastic problem overnight, we are determined to reduce our own plastic consumption.
Though alternatives like cloth and paper may cost more to produce and ship, we believe it’s our responsibility to offer eco-friendly packaging without passing the cost onto you. Therefore, we’ve made the decision not to increase prices for plastic-free packaging, and our commitment to high standards remains unchanged.
We’ve already started transitioning to plastic-free packaging and are fully dedicated to continuing this initiative.

Sustainable Forestry Practices
Deforestation is a significant concern for us, despite being a furniture company. At Artisan, we ensure that responsible forestry practices are followed, allowing trees to grow while providing employment for the artisans whose families have honed their woodworking skills for generations.

To balance the production of high-quality handcrafted furniture with our respect for the environment, we use wood exclusively from sustainable, commercial plantations. For our solid mango wood furniture, we source from trees that have completed their fruit-bearing lifecycle, repurposing material that would otherwise be burned to clear space for new trees.
All the timber we use complies with the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) for responsible forestry, and this commitment remains steadfast.
If you’d like to see our certifications, please feel free to ask, and we’ll provide you with the latest copies.

Fabric Safety Compliance
All fabric used in our furniture meets the latest fire-retardant standards (BS5852). We keep records of all fabric certifications and retest each new batch to ensure ongoing compliance.
Every item includes the necessary fire safety tags, with labels sewn into the product to confirm adherence to these standards.

If you require certification, we are happy to provide the most up-to-date documentation.

Lead-Free Finishes
All paints and finishes we use are free from lead. Our finishes are applied in controlled environments to prevent air contamination from harmful particulates.
To protect against termites, we use Biflex TC, an environmentally friendly solution that provides long-term termite protection. Biflex creates an invisible barrier, offering peace of mind that your furniture is protected by the best available treatment.

Supplier Payment and Ethical Practices
We maintain transparent and timely payment practices with our suppliers, ensuring strong, cooperative relationships.
Our factories have passed rigorous social audits, earning the BSCI certification, which guarantees ethical treatment of workers. We do not employ child labor in our factories, and we ensure our suppliers adhere to the same standard. Should we find any violations, we immediately halt business with that supplier until they comply.
If you’d like to review our certifications, we’re happy to provide the latest versions.

Carbon Footprint Reduction
We are committed to minimizing our carbon footprint by exclusively using sea freight for shipping from our factories in India. This method is more efficient for our product range, though we recognize the need for continued improvement in global shipping practices.
Our UK delivery partners are also working towards reducing their environmental impact.
By using wood from trees that have completed their commercial lifecycle, we avoid burning them and contribute to a healthier environment.
